UAS Operational Safety Certification course

Our experience has shown us that while Part107 exam preparation and achieving the license is a great start to an exciting career in the world of unmanned aircraft operations, most of the time the pilot lacks a full understanding of how to implement the rules and regulations into a safe and standardized operation.
It is here where our instructors borrow from their FAA Part 61 and military flight experience having flown in professional environments, to teach BirdDog students, Operational Safety, CRM, Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Proper Pre-Post Flight Inspections, Emergency Planning and Procedures, Record keeping, Maintenance issues and more.

Our certification course is divided into three parts:
1) Operational Safety and Standardization - taught via classroom or virtual learning session.
This classroom session opens the eyes of the pilot to the risks and precautions needed to be taken when flying UAS. From the most basic one-man UAS operation to the more complex multi-pilot/observer missions stretching for miles, the student will learn tips, strategies, and standardized workflow tasks that will assist them individually or as a team to have safe and successful flights. We are often told, "Wow. I thought I knew everything...I never imagined some of the things I learned.
2) Hands-on basic flight training  - taught in the field, either ours or yours.
These field sessions teach the hands-on tasks of setting up your drone, pre-flighting, analyzing your area of opearation, risk assessment and mitigation, setting the drone parameters up for those mitigation solutions, establishing a good take-off and landing zone, alternates, proper hardware and safety field kit use, emergency planning and discussion, hands-on flight training using our school drones or your own drone, basic flight operations and maneuvers, proper landing consideration, post flight and record keeping.
3)  Hands-on pilot evaluation - here we observe and evaluate the pilot using the tasks taught in the classroom and at the flight training course to see that they are implementing the rules, regs, safety precautions, field kit equipment, risk mitigation solutions, and CRM to conduct a safe and successful flight.
